Why a “Global Week of Rest”?

If you are one of the lucky ones who get a vacation, you know how it really doesn’t always seem that relaxing. The rush of finishing up project contributions and tying up all the loose ends in the days leading up to your vacation can be stressful in and of itself - not even mentioning taking care of the travel details and packing!

You never want to be a burden on your colleagues, so you try to deliver as much as you can before your leave. Still, having a colleague away places an additional workload on the team. It may be no wonder, then, that even while on vacation, as much as 66% of Americans feel the need to constantly check and respond to their work emails! How is that supposed to help with relaxing and taking a break? In fact, it doesn’t. According to the research cited here, entire teams should take vacation at the same time.

A Reinvention of Denmark’s Industry Holiday?

This concept is not too far away from what is traditionally referred to as the ‘industry vacation’ in Denmark, home to our Paperturn headquarters. This concept refers to the tradition of companies closing for the same 3 weeks in July, after schools have closed for the summer and families can go on holiday. This concept, along with other traditions, is slowly eroding, however, but there just might be something a bit genius in the practice of everyone being forced to go away at the same time.

Colleagues can go on a guilt-free vacation (or even staycation at home or summer cottages) and not have to worry for a single moment about any undue stress they are causing their colleagues who are still laboring away in the office.

Remember: Take Your Vacation! We Are!

The World Health Organization reported that in 2016, 745,000 people died of heart disease and stroke, due to long working hours. Actually going on holiday can be beneficial to mental health, as well, because it forces our brains to adjust to new routines and places. Taking vacation, therefore, is seen as a way to care for both your physical and mental health.

So – do like our friendly customer service team and shut it down, close it up, and set your status to “Away”! Enjoy the benefits of taking a collective vacation with your coworkers (but maybe not all travel to the same place - that would simply be a bit much!).

Remember: our reserve team will still be here to offer fantastic support, for limited hours but we still promise to reply to most of our support requests within 24 hours!

And don’t forget, guides are always available under our Help Guide menu, with easy to follow, step-by-step instructions on every feature we offer. There are even video walk-throughs available!

To round things up, the Paperturn customer support team are looking forward to going on holiday with a clear conscience as well as looking forward to coming back rejuvenated and ready to continue offering top-notch service to you, our valued customers!
